Hola!

Still thinking about what to put here. What do you want to know?

a couple of firsts

Mi Comadre

This is a picture of one of my closest friends, Brenda. She’s also my comadre.

I’m the Godmother to her son Raphael. He’s such a great kid. He has the biggest heart and is just a sweetie. He also calls me Princess Claudia, he thinks it’s my name. I taught him that when he was younger. You have to start them young. ;) When he was younger though it sounded more like “Pinche Claudia,” but that’s beside the point!

I took a lot of pictures of Brenda earlier last week and I’m just getting around to editing them. Funny thing, this is the first time I’ve ever taken pictures of Brenda. I was really excited to work with her since she can be a bit camera shy. I have more, but I’ll have to leave them for another day.

Today at work I received the very first album I have ever created for my company. When the box arrived on my desk I stared at it for a good 5 minutes too nervous to open the box. It’s the first album with layouts I create from scratch for one of our clients. We could have gone the simple route and paid for designing from the actual company who mounts the album, but then what would be the point in my boss hiring me.

I finally got the nerve to open the box and as I grabbed the box cutter all these images of errors that could have occurred started running through my mind. Pao, my co-worker, was next to me when I opened the Baby Blue (baby’s first) Album and I kept hearing “Ooooohh. . ahhhh. .woow!!” The hugest grin just slapped across my face.

I had been waiting for that album for 4 weeks. That’s how long the printing process is. Since most of my job consists of creating from scratch, this first album coming in was a huge deal. I noticed a couple of errors on my part, layout wise, but not even my boss noticed them until I pointed it out. In her opinion, they were so minimal that the client probably won’t notice. Which is true, I’m the type that notices layout errors on Rolling Stone or Time Magazine. I’m just a freak like that.

Everyone loved it. I was just so proud myself today.

Tomorrow we start packing the studio. We’re moving to a brand new studio on Friday. It’s pretty much custom built and the production area is huge! I’m so excited. I get a U-shaped desk. Pao and I will be sharing an office that is going to be red!!!

The shooting room is three times the size of what we have right now. It’s a photographers dream come true!! We have two client show rooms. One is a living room, the other is a dinning room with a chandelier. I can’t wait to move in. I’ve periodically visited the new studio, but I have yet to see it finished. The only unfortunate thing is that even with this move, workflow has not slowed down. I’m actually busier then ever and I’ve had to work from home several times.

‘Tis life at times. ;)
