Wednesday’s with Silvia: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

I’ve been really busy the past couple of days and I actually wanted to start this last week, but I just didn’t have time.
A couple of weeks ago, I went out to dinner with my friend Silvia and asked her if she’d be a guest writer on my blog. I would send her a weekly question and she’d reply and I’d post here. The reason being is that I admire Silva very much. You would probably have to know her to understand and I am planning on writing an entry with much more depth describing Sil, but I just haven’t had time. But I promise to make time in the near future.
For now, here’s Sil’s answer to this week’s question, “What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?”:
Best advice ever given: Leave things in God’s hands.
Hard to do, as I tend to want to ‘fix’ everything myself. I’m not sure if someone gave me this as advice, or I heard/read it somewhere; probably both. Point is, without this wise piece of advice I don’t think I would have been able to deal with half the things going on in my life. It helps to know that there’s a reason for everything that happens, and that I’m being guided to where I am supposed to be at certain stages of my life. I would have never come up with some of the situations I’ve encountered, or things I’ve seen, or people I’ve been able to help, or found people right at the moment I needed them most. I long ago stopped thinking of these situations as mere coincidences. After a few of them….well… hehe… they’re no longer coincidences. Not in my book. Look around, assess the situation, do what you can, then let go & let God do his thing. That’s my take on things. ^_^

wow, the new MBP...i bet that's what God uses up in heaven...

AMEN!!! Sorry, I had to get out of hiding and respond to this one. Let go and let God do His thing…now that’s some great advice! I love this girl already.

Sil is right on the button, with only one small thing. Asking God to take care of something is an action. Faith and prayer are the 2 strongest things in the world and in my opinion very much under used.
