adios, I sure won’t miss you in 2008!

I usually have nothing to write about. Nothing out of the ordinary usually happens and when it does, it’s work related and I feel like people have had enough of me talking about work. . .
Today was a normal day for me. I met up with my friends to go shopping for some last minute Christmas gifts. Have to get gifts for the bro and sis and take advantage of good sales out there. It feels good to have time to go out instead of being at home and working. Christmas season sure was busy for me this year. Things are calmer for me at work, so it feels good to kind of just sleep in late and do regular every day things.
One thing was different for me today though. It’s actually been a really good week. I got a great end of year review at work with a gift and even a bonus. My sister and I hit a super sale and got a whole bunch of stuff on clearance and saved over 300 dollars, that was awesome. I finally had time to get my car fixed and it didn’t cost too much (I expected it to be so much more). I’m planning an amazing vacation this summer with 6 of the most amazing gals I know.
Great week. Little things really do count.
But the big, HUGE things, OMG. . .do those ever count. I was balancing my checkbook last night doing the math and seeing how much I had to splurge on last minute christmas items. So as i went through my list of things, checking here and there. . . a payment went through that I have been planning to go through all year. . but this time it was different. I never thought my reaction to this would be so strong. . .but it really was. . .
As of yesterday, I’m officially credit card debt free. OFFICIALLY. Every card i have in my wallet right now has a balance of ZERO. Now, I do know that i have to keep using them to keep my credit score good, but i could care less right now b/c seriously, OMG. . I’m entering 2008 with one 2007 new years resolution completed.
I’m credit card debt FREE!

OMG, you are my Hero! CONGRATS! I have the same goal but am afraid it may be 2010 before I can say I am credit card debt free! That must feel amazing! I’m so proud of you!

Rock on!
If at all possible, try to never carry a balance with a credit card… in other words, always pay them off each month. That will definitely help your credit. It’s hard when you need to buy something expensive but it’s possible. It seems to be the fastest way to build up your “credit limit.”

Go, cad! I got a pretty late start with credit cards and didn’t get one until three years ago (my dad wouldn’t let me). I’ve been pretty good about keeping the cards at $0. Since I paid off my car in September, the only debt I have comes from student loans.

As I mentioned to you before, I got on that boat about 6 months ago, but here’s what I’m doing now. I’ve gotten myself a credit card that gives me miles for every purchase. I no longer make any purchases that I can’t pay off in that same month.
So basically, I will charge everything that I can charge and I pay it off within a week so I don’t accumulate any interest. I get the miles, but I don’t pay the credit card company any interest.
Feels like the monkey is off your back huh?
