CD Mixology 101 – 7 Deadly Sins

Week four of our yearly CD Mix project, and I am so freakin’ proud of us.  This weekend I’m going to go buy a little box to put all my new CD mixes in.

I mean, we’ve kept up with this, it’s amazing. I feel…accomplished. Go Mags!! Go cad!!! This little project has made me listen to music I haven’t heard in forever because I’m stuck on like ONE cd for a month. I love this project. I highly recommend you guys go try it with one of your awesome music lovin’ buddies.

So, I picked this weeks theme, which is 7 deadly sins. They are:
Pride
Envy
Anger
Sloth
Greed
Gluttony
Lust

This is the traditional order, the history of this list goes back at least to Pope St. Gregory the great and St. John Cassian. The list in itself is not strictly biblical, but the Bible prohibits all seven. The opposing virtue for all seven in the same order are:

Humility
Generosity
Love
Kindness
Self Control
Faith and Temperance
Zeal

Dante Alighieri was a Catholic who wrote, The Divine Comedy where he places the seven deadly sins on a level with higher levels closer to Paradise and lower ones closer to Hell. There are many perspectives on the seven deadly sins. C.S. Lewis wrote about them in The Great Divorce.

But if you don’t care to read a book, just turn on your radio, musicians love to sing about sinning. Oh yes. So without future adieu, here’s Mag’s CD this week.
